Brad Lantz, Financial Guide

Brad has been a consultant to the financial advisors since 1994. He recently published a book, You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know. It is about serving our clients so well they become our absolute advocate. “This concept is key with every client,” said Brad. “I am not happy until my clients like our service and values so much, they become raving fans.”

That is why Brad works with each client to determine their expectations, of him, the firm, and their finances. “One of the first questions I always ask,” says Brad, “is what are your expectations of me as your financial guide?” My goal then is to exceed those expectations.” When helping clients feel more comfortable about their future, Brad has found clients want three main things from him as their financial guide.

• Accessibility and trust. First, they want an advisor who is accessible and they can trust. At VAFG we have all agreed to only make recommendations that are in the clients’ best interests. “I am available to my clients 24/7,” says Brad. Each client has his cell phone number, his home number and his email.

• Retire Secure. Second, many investors today are concerned about running out of money in retirement. Brad uses a thorough financial planning process with his clients.“We find this can help take the fear out of your financial future,” Brad explained.

• Morally Responsible. Finally, for some clients, it is important to help them invest in line with their moral and spiritual values.“This is important to me, too,” says Brad. “I want to sleep at night and my clients want to sleep, too. This is much easier to do when our investments match our values,” according to Brad.

Brad notes he is privileged to be partnered with long-time friend, mentor and author Katherine Vessenes. As the leading principal of Vestment Financial, she is also a nationally known expert on the legal, and ethical issues facing financial advisors and has spoken to thousands of advisors across the country. Brad is also excited to have his son, Josh, join him in the business as his Client Service Manager and Financial Planner. Brad, and his lovely wife, Jane, enjoy entertaining friends at dinner parties in their home in Shakopee. He is a low handicap golfer, loves to exercise to P-90X and is excited about his daughter Cate having twins, Davis and Sadie, to keep his grand daughter Avery company.
