Biblically Responsible and Socially Responsible Investments

For many years we have struggled with a huge moral dilemma. We have watched people of faith buying investments and supporting causes that were contrary to their beliefs without them even knowing what they were purchasing!

Although this is not important to all of our clients, some of them are very concerned about their investments matching their morals.

Little did they realize they were investing in companies that supported abortions, gambling, terrorism and other industries that they would consider morally objectionable. Over and over we heard “I had no idea (this trusted company) was investing in things I find morally reprehensible! I am upset.”

Of course these folks were upset, their investments did not match their values.

This put us at a moral crossroad. There were very few alternative investments that would be appropriate.

Our conscience was on the line. We had to do two things: educate our friends, particularly those who wanted to steward their own assets seriously. We had to create or find an investment alternative for them—one that wouldn’t violate their moral values.
